April 2023 Meeting Review

The Saskatoon MQG met on April 23rd for a sew day at Home Inn & Suites in Stonebridge. Our education topic was quilt as you go. For anyone wanting more information on the many ways to do this, check out Monica and Alaura’s work at https://www.patternpoole.com/. Also, Teresa DownUnder just put out a YouTube video on “How to Quilt-As-You-Go” 9 different ways.

We are very much looking forward to Roxanne’s Kawandi workshop on June 4th at Home Inn & Suites. It will start at 9 a.m. If you haven’t signed up yet, be sure to reach out to Roxanne for the supplies list. We will do a combo sew day/Kawandi workshop. We have the room from 9 to 8 as per usual. The room wasn’t available in May on days that avoided the May 24 weekend.

I seem to be the only one that hadn’t heard of making projects with the fabric salvages. That was a nice thing to learn about on the weekend of Earth day. The Canadian quilt is the pattern Glorious and Free by Quilter on Fire. Shari went home with 2 less bags than she brought. We are lucky to see the newly sewn ones before anyone else! So nice to have Bev back. The traveling quilt blocks are looking so nice. Here are a few photos from the day.

As mentioned earlier in the post, on June 4th we are having a combo sew day/workshop at Home Inn & Suites. Happy sewing until then.

March 2023 Quilt Retreat Review

The Saskatoon MQG met on March 25th and 26th for a quilt retreat at Queen’s House . It was a huge success and we owe our thanks to Sherry as she did so much of the preparation. Roxanne is the lucky winner of the draw for the fat quarters! A special thank you to Linda and Charlotte for donating 9″ felt squares for everyone to make felt boxes. They challenge you to finish one and bring it to our next meeting!

Next month we are having a sew day at Home Inn & Suites. This will be on April 23rd and the education topic will be quilt as you go. Happy sewing until then.
