The Saskatoon MQG met on June 27th in Buena Vista park. Our educational topic was embellishments and so many amazing projects were shared . Due to poor photography skills, only a few made the collage below. We are hoping to have an August impromptu quilt show in the park again, so watch for details. Then come and see some of the work of our members in person. Here is a special shout-out to Deb who showed that we can make hand embroidered quilt labels when we are away from our machines and need a hand project (top left).

For our ice-breaker, we told each other what make of sewing machine we have, and why. We had Janome, Babylock, Husqvarna, Juki, Singer and Pfaff brands represented. To other quilt guilds, the “why” makes for a great opening to a meeting. Was the brand selected because they make good buttonholes, for the wide throat, for portability, or for being sold locally? Or was it a surprise gift? There are so many wonderful reasons.

The quilts shown today were gorgeous. Come to our show if weather permits so you can see them! So what’s coming? We will send out a meeting invitation for July 25th and if enough of us are available, we will meet. The education topic is thread and needles and we will all participate. Our quilt show is planned tentatively for August 29th. And that means our negative space challenge is moved to September. If we can’t meet in July, that education topic will just be pushed ahead to the next meeting, and so on. For the Fall, we are hoping sew days will resume.
