October 2020 Meeting Review

We followed the Covid-19 safety rules and had another fabulous sew day. Bev has challenged us for a November 22nd “Improv Wedge – Show & Tell” (IW-S&T). This can be a small sample or a finished project. And here is your inspiration.

Wedges (Top by Sherry, Bottom 2 by Bev)
6 Wonky Rectangles Re-arranged (Made by Bev)
Wedges & Curves (Demo by Bev)

But there is more! We will not be having an educational topic in November. After IW-S&T, we will be showing some of our past Christmas projects. Plus, get your thinking caps on!!! Would you be interested in joining a travelling quilt activity for 2021? It is a great way for all of us to pick an interesting modern quilt block and get our friends to help us create our quilt over the following 12 months.

It has been fun to have so many new members joining us as this brings so much inspiration. We hope Shari brings this finished puffy quilt next month as it is such a cool technique that was new to all of us. Here is a sneak peak. The full-size quilt is going to be stunning and snuggly.

October 2020 Meeting

The next meeting is on Sunday, October 25th!!!! In-person again!!!!!!!!!

We have both a Sew Day and Regular Meeting at Home Inn and Suites (253 Willis Crescent). Come and Go from 9 am to 8 pm. The meeting is from 2 to 4 pm. But see next paragraph for COVID-19 restrictions.

Please RSVP if you are attending to Sherry ( smbirnie@gmail.com) and let her know if you are coming to the sew day and/or the meeting. RSVP’s are mandatory. We have a limit of 12 to sew and 15 for the meeting. If you arrive without RSVPing and the 12 sew spots are taken, we will invite you back for the meeting in the afternoon. Also, we are saving the spots for current members and will only make spots available to others, if available. We won’t be having a potluck. And we hope everyone brings their masks and wears them as needed to respect social distancing rules. Please remember hand sanitizer though we are sure to have lots available.

Meeting Agenda (2:00 to 4:00):

  • Icebreaker
  • Education – Bev is going to lead an improv exercise demonstrating 3 possibilities: one with wedges, one with strip sets, and one with curves. Then you are most welcome to play with whatever technique you would like to try out and Bev will be pleased to help.
  • Show & Tell and Book, Blog, or Bolt – Show us what you’ve made and your works in progress. We all want to know what new and interesting things YOU know about.

We hope to see you there!
