August 25 2013 Meeting Recap

Carly here, posting the recap late as usual (just kidding, it’s Jaclyn – later than Carly was!)

We had a great meeting on August 25th. I feel like fall is in the air and people are getting back to sewing! It was great seeing some new faces and some people who were away all summer. We are so excited for all the fun things we have planned for the fall.

I gave a little tutorial on colour theory. Check out the resources page we recently added to the top for some of the links I mentioned. Feel free to send us an email if you think of things we should add.

After that we did a little show and tell. As always, it’s great to see what all of our talented members are creating. Here is a sample of what we saw. Check out our Flickr page for the full show. Summer was fun but I can’t wait to see what we come up with in the fall!

July 28th Meeting Recap

Hi, all!

How can you tell I was in charge of the meeting recap for July?  It’s August 7th.  That’s how. 🙂  Jaclyn’s way more on the ball…

Anyway, we had a lovely turnout for a Sunday in July.  Kelly gave us an excellent mini-workshop on bag-making.  She even showed us how to do zippers properly.  I really have no excuse for sub-par zipper sewing now; too many of our guild members are wicked sewists!

Kelly also brought in some of her work to show us.  They were oohed and aahed over.  Such great fabric choices…

We also had a total for the blocks we sent out to Calgary – we had more than 25 blocks and several yards of backing fabric!!  Those blocks have been added to our Flickr group. Thanks to everyone who was able to contribute. 🙂 And thanks to the folks on the Calgary end for their generous donation of time and energy to organize all those quilts.

It’s been an great summer so far!  Hope to see you at our informal Wednesday night meeting on Aug 14th, at 7pm – Greystone Co-op.  You never know what will happen – last month we had a visitor from Norway!! Always an adventure… 🙂
