Additional Details:

Cost: Free! (except lunch and membership if you are not a member)

Food: We will be having lunch catered for $16 a person. The lunch will be a soup and sub buffet. Drinks and dessert are also provided. We are hoping a few people will volunteer to bring snacks and drinks for the rest of the day. Let us know on the survey if you are able to help out.

Planned activities: We will be making 6.5″ blocks in guild colours (fabric provided) for our banners. Plan to make one or more for part of the day. We can’t wait to see what you come up with. We are also planning a handmade gift exchange. If you would like to participate please bring something you made. Make sure it’s wrapped, that’s part of the fun! The rest of the day will be free sewing time, so bring whatever you would like to work on.

To bring: Bring any supplies you need for your planned projects. Not everyone needs to bring an iron and board, we will organize that at the November 24th meeting. There will be plenty of space to set up your own machine and supplies.

Any other questions? Please e-mail us at SaskatoonMQG@gmail.com to let us know.

We can’t wait to see you there!

September 29 2013 Meeting

After a little bit of confusion, we held our September meeting on September 29th. Our biggest apologies to anyone who showed up on September 22nd. We have made sure that a meeting mix-up can’t happen again. To be sure of dates you can always click the meetings tab above to be taken to a list of our upcoming (and past) meetings.

In anticipation of the upcoming Saskatoon Quilters’ Guild show on October 24th and 25th we asked Brenda to lead us in a tutorial about quilt hanging. She did a great job showing us how to attach a sleeve to our quilts. The information was useful for those entering quilts in the show, but also for those who would just like to hang something on their own wall. Thanks for the great info Brenda!

We also discussed our upcoming year-end Sewcial (details to come), joining the Official Modern Quilt Guild in January 2014 and changes and improvements to our website.

After all the business was out of the way it was time to share the results of our ‘Inspired by…’ challenge. We had a few people with unfinished projects who didn’t want them photographed, but Carly came with a fully completed quilt. She said something about geeky things I didn’t understand (Star Trek anyone?), but her quilt was beautiful and creative as always:

We always love to see new faces so if you are considering coming to a meeting we encourage you to do so! And thanks to all of our existing members who always inspire us with their skill and creativity.
