We met at Home Inn and Suites on September 28, 2025 for a fun and inspiring sew day focused on fabric scraps. A big thank you to everyone who contributed 10.5” crumb blocks. We will continue collecting these at our October meeting, so feel free to bring more!

We also learned that the Modern Quilt Guild is celebrating November 1, 2025 as International Scrap Sorting Day. Naturally, our icebreaker was all about how we store our scraps. Some members sort by colour using Ziploc bags or bins, others toss scraps into boxes, and a few take the time to cut them into strips or standard shapes. Just one tip: don’t store scraps in a garbage can! We heard a heartbreaking story of someone who accidentally burned all their scraps thinking it was trash.

Celebrating Kids

May also marked the return to school and work for many kids, so let’s take a moment to celebrate them! Andrea’s daughter Paige had her Make-A-Wish granted by Woobles, where she designed a Red Panda Cupcake kit! You can watch her adorable creation here:

Nancy introduced us to the inspiring history of the Gee’s Bend quiltmakers, who used fabric scraps to create stunning quilts in the early 19th century. Learn more here:
