Michelle Freedman has graciously allowed us to use her Urban Chicken Block for our March block lotto. Thanks Michelle!
Be sure to check out her blog for instructions. There is also another great tutorial here.
Make sure to tag your blocks on instragram using #urbanchickenblock and @stitchwellandprosper
The colour scheme is as follows:
Remember that your blocks are meant to be monochromatic, so choose ONE colour per block.
The white portion of the block should be low-volume white fabrics, for example:
Blocks are due at the March meeting and we’ll make the draw during Show&Tell (about 2pm).

Hello, I’ve been getting your newsletter for a while now and quite enjoy seeing all your blocks and quilts. Can you please explain to me exactly what your “block lotto” is and how it works? Susan

Hi Susan, the concept of the block lotto is that a block is chosen for construction. People can make as many of those blocks as they like. Each block is an entry to the lottery. In March we will have a lottery from all of the people who bring blocks. Winner takes home all of the blocks and needs to complete a quilt top in a year. Lots of guilds do these like the Calgary Modern Quilt Guild and Grand River Modern Quilt Guild in Ontario. Hope this helps!
