Happy Groundhog’s Day, everyone!
Last Sunday was bitterly cold but it was made warm by all the smiling faces in attendance. It almost made up for missing our Jaclyn, who is apparently responsible for keeping meetings flowing according to the agenda and not letting us get wildly offtrack!
We touched base about the Sewcial in December, wonderful new things going on, and introduced Sheila as our new Treasurer! We also thank our outgoing Treasurer, Patti S, for her service to the guild this past year.
Next up, Kerrie gave us a great presentation on using scraps.
She had lots of great tips for dealing with them as soon as you create them, sorting, planning ahead, and even what constitutes a scrap (hint: whatever you choose and whatever you’ll use!)
Then she shared a number of examples of scrap projects, from postcards and hot mats to a list of projects that are scrap-friendly.
Thanks for the warning to forgo FMQ on insulbright batting, too! 🙂
And then it was time for Show & Tell. Some of us were still too stitched out from the holidays but others clearly hadn’t lifted their foot from the pedal!
Bev was busy!
As was Kelly.
And Sheila.
And all of us were jealous of Lisa’s sewing-machine-cover-swap partner….
Swap partner – wherever you are – please know that a dozen ladies in Saskatoon tried to steal your sewing machine cover… True story.
Again, thanks for braving the weather ladies! We’ll see you all at the Co-op for our Feb. 12th informal night meeting. 🙂
Carly
I believe there are also some women who were not present at the meeting who felt some feeling to grab’n’run when they saw the sewing machine cover! Just sayin’
