Our first meeting of the year was a blast! It was great seeing all our members and lovely to meet some new people. We have a wonderful group of quilters and every meeting brings much inspiration.
We began with our traveling quilt blocks. Kelly had Jaclyn’s block and did a sweet little Christmas tree for Jaclyn’s season-themed quilt.
Bev had Lisa’s quilt and made the most adorable little birds!!!
Julie had Sonya’s and added some pretty log cabins to the bunch.
Kim made a star for me. Love!
Sonya added to Bev’s improv tree-themed quilt with some cute little round trees.
And Carly put together a creative colour swatch to Kelly’s colour/personality-themed quilt.
Dyanne gave us a very informative talk on machine maintenance. Did you know that you should clean your machine after every 8 hours of use? Neither did I! Yikes, my machine has been seriously neglected.
The challenge for this meeting was free motion quilting and Jaclyn made her daughter a sweet Valentine’s Day mini with some free motion hearts. So darling!
Sheila free-motioned a lily and the word Lily onto some pillows for her daughter. Beautiful!
And Carly did a little free-motion sampler.
Then onto show and tell! I adore this plus quilt Patti made.
Darla made a lovely table runner.
Heather showed a wonky star quilt that she was working on at the retreat we went to in November. I was very tempted to steal this (I have a thing for wonky stars).
Lisa made a risky mini with some naughty words on it for a fun swap a few of us are in. So pretty, Lisa!
Carly made a sweet hoodie with some cat nap trim.
Our new member Angie showed off the quilt she has been working on for her daughter. Looks great!
And Dyanne had another work of art to show off. She actually painted on this mini! You do such stunning work, Dyanne.
Our new location at the Field House worked wonderfully! With 23 people at this meeting we needed the space. Or next meeting will be Sunday, February 22nd at the Field House. The ongoing challenge is to make a name tag. We will also have an ugly fat quarter swap so bring in your “I don’t like this anymore” or “what was I thinking??” fat quarters and we’ll swap them up!
See you there!
Love all the photos! I get inspired by the creativity in your group. Such a talented bunch of quilters!
