More like April snowstorm! Our last meeting had us a tad worried we would have a small turnout, what with the blizzard and power outages of the weekend. But we had a packed meeting full of quilty goodness!
Travelling quilts round 1 are looking fantastic:
Carly had Jaclyn’s travelling quilt and did some cute little umbrellas for April.
Jaclyn had Sonya’s log cabin quilt. I love the colours!
I pattern-tested Jeliquilts goose chase pattern and thought it perfect for Sheila’s travelling quilt.
Kim had Heather’s astrology-inspired travelling quilt and incorporated her colours and theme.
Sheila had Kelly’s personality quilt – choose colours based on your personality, put a little of yourself in the quilt. This was the result!
Sonya had Lisa’s quilt. Lisa chose the colours (pink, grey and yellow) and gave us artistic freedom! Adorable little Hazels, Sonya 🙂
Kelly had Kim’s quilt, bright colours, bold shapes. Love it Kelly!
Julie had Bev’s improv trees. I adore the rainbow one!
Lisa had my star-themed quilt and made me some beauties, with Tula and Lizzy, some of my faves!!!
Heather had Carly’s pebble quilt. Sweet stripes Heather!
Bev had Julie’s neighbourhood quilt and made some log cabins – fun take on the theme!
Now for Saskatoon Travelling Quilts ROUND 2!!! We’ve been having so much fun, and the blocks being made by our superstar guild members were so fantastic, we wanted to start another round for people who didn’t get in the first round! My theme for round 2 is low volume with teal, purple, pink and lime green, and a choice of churn dash, geese, wonky stars, pinwheels and pluses! I think it will be fantastic.
Jaclyn learned some new techniques at QuiltCon, so challenged us with some reverse applique for her round 2 quilt.
Kim has chosen modern maples for her new travelling quilt. I can’t wait to try these!
Sheila loved doing Kelly’s block so much, she used the same pattern to start of her new travelling quilt! The theme is geometric shapes with navy, teal and gold. I have this one first 🙂
Sonya has made a beautiful medallion, that she would like us to frame. Love the fabrics you used Sonya!
Lisa has chosen a fun, scrappy plus/cross block. I love doing this block and this will make one beautiful quilt Lisa!!
Darla (new to the travelling quilts!) has chosen a prairie theme for her quilt. Make it feel like home 🙂
Nicole has chosen an underwater theme. Blues for a main colour, along with fish, boats, waves, whatever speaks to you!
Carly has gone with bordered improve pieces. You’re going to push me out of my comfort zone, as usual, Carly 🙂
Carly gave us an incredible presentation on paper piece design. It was interesting and very informative. We are now all challenged to come up with a paper pieced pattern. What to do…
And finally, we had show and tell. Jaclyn made this fun plus quilt for her friend’s baby. So cute, Jaclyn!
I used two of the (ugly) fat quarters I picked up at the February meeting in a reversible dress I made for my 4 year old. She loves it! I also made the Fancy Sailor top I am wearing.
Patty showed off a beautiful mini she made. Wonderful colours Patty!
Darla has made use of the quick curves ruler – beautiful!
Carly’s been sewing more garments. Love this top Carly!
Heather had two finishes for us to admire…
I love this Heather, it is so pretty.
Kathryn had 3 little quilts to show off. First, Gaggle of Geese. Well done!
Matching baby quilts for twinsies! So cute 🙂
And another baby quilt. The appliqued jacks are fantastic.
Well that wraps up the April meeting! We’re all busy getting our quilts ready for the SMQG Showcase on June 14th from 10-4 pm at the Nutana Legion, 3021 Louise St. We hope to see you all there! Bring friends, it is going to be fabulous!
Next meeting will be Sunday, May 24th from 2:00-4:00 pm at the Fieldhouse. Have a great May long weekend!
