Education Topic: Needle Turn Applique
The August meeting for the Saskatoon Modern Quilt Guild was held on August 27th at the Home Inn & Suites in Stonebridge. Nicole led an education session for us featuring needle turn applique!
Nicole first talked about the basic technique of needle turn and brought us all samples to try our skills on. She also went over different threads, needles and adhesives that can be used in the process. The thread and needle examples were really great! It showed us that the products you choose can make a big difference – not only in the look of the final project, but in your experience making it.
It was a good presentation that gave us some hands on experience with needle turn applique. Most of the attendees had never tried it before. Thanks Nicole!
Other Business
The Saskatoon Modern Quilt Guild members were given the opportunity to curate a fabric bundle through Mad About Patchwork. It will be available for purchase on Mad About Patchwork’s website in October!
The Ugly Block Charity Quilt is at Saskatoon Longarm Studio being quilted. It will then be on its way to the Saskatoon Sexual Assault and Information Centre’s fundraiser.
The QuiltCon 2018 Charity Quilt Challenge planning is under way! This year’s theme is Modern Traditionalism. Barb P. has been putting a lot of effort into designing the quilt and we can’t wait to get started!
