New Meeting Format
March was our second meeting of 2018. Members came out and enjoyed the sew day format.
Book/Blog/Bolt – Show & Tell
The 2017 charity quilt is back from QuiltCon in the states:
Look at that beautiful quilting that Michelle at Saskatoon Longarm Studio did for us:
The back of the quilt almost looks like another quilt altogether!:
Val showed us a quilt made from Kaffe fabric that she’s been saving over the years:
Val showed us this awesome squares quilt:
Val also showed us a fun modern tree quilt. The pattern is from Simply Modern magazine. She notes that the magazine is translated into english so patterns need to be closely scrutinized for errors.:
Charlene makes her own quilt labels with an inkjet printer using her own fabric. Before printing she applies the fabric to a special poly butcher paper from the states:
Charlene also showed us this clamshell ruler she got from Dinkydoo which makes many curved options:
Barb brought her finished quilt from our travelling quilts. Her theme was “under the stars”. She quilted it on her domestic machine:
On the label she put the name of each person who contributed blocks:
Heather showed us quilt she made using vintage handkerchiefs. She put yo-yo’s to cover any holes they had. It has been longarm quilted.
Bev made a quilt from her granddaughter using Elizabeth Hartman’s Fancy Fox quilt pattern:
She is quilting it with some organic lines:
Linda made a bear mini. She put extra batting under the bear potion to make it pop:
Linda also showed us an Easter quilt:
Darla showed us some of the Purely Canadian Eh! fabrics:
Darla was also working on a quilt block that got a lot of attention. It’s a free pattern called Cut Loose by Free Spirit:
Jana showed her latest Sew Sampler subscription box:
Block Lotto
Michelle Freedman has graciously allowed us to use her Urban Chicken Block for our March block lotto. Thanks Michelle!
There were 17 blocks!
And the winner is…. Barb!:
Next Meeting:
Our next meeting is May 27th. It will be an extra long one going from 10am until 8pm!
Block Lotto will also be held at the May meeting.
These quilts are all so awesome, thank you for sharing them and also showing the new Canada eh! material….love your site.

Many thanks for sharing your March 2028 meeting on FB. I live in Ontario and have been quilting for 20 years. It has taken over my other interests which is apparent through my house. I don’t know how I got on your subscribed list but I am so happy with it. Lately I have been interested in modern versions of quilting. Hope to receive more lovely photos from your group.
