The Saskatoon MQG met on February 26th for a sew day at Home Inn & Suites. Linda S-K showed us how to make half-square triangle (HST) units based on the “8 at a Time Half-Square Triangle Units” download at: https://studylib.net/doc/18219288/8-at-a-time-half-square-triangle-units. This handy chart shows the square size to cut for a range of HST sizes. The coolest thing for me was to see that you can flip the HST using the Bloc Loc ruler when trimming because the groove on the ruler holds the block in place. Here is a YouTube video that explains this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMxnXkFENxo.

We saw several traveling quilt blocks. Margaret’s shown below (top left) is Village Square. Also shown are couple of HST quilts, and a book by Victoria Findlay Wolfe. The two bottom right quilts show examples of stash projects. The alphabet is the Letra quilt pattern.

Next month we are having our retreat on March 25 & 26 at Queen’s House. There will be a white elephant table if you would like to try to get rid of anything quilting related. If no one takes it, remember to take it home. On Saturday, we will play a game at 2 p.m. and will have show and tell at 7 p.m. If you wish to participate in the game, please bring three 10 inch square Christmas themed pieces of fabric. On Sunday, another game is planned for 2 p.m. No need to bring anything for that one. Also on Sunday, we will have a fat quarter draw. You will get your name entered for each fat quarter you bring. The lucky winner gets all of the fat quarters. If anyone attending ‘Saturday only’ wants to participate, no worries. We will let you know if your name is drawn for the fat quarters.
