There are 37 photos to come from our September meeting, so based on how many words they’re worth, I’ll keep the actual words to a minimum. We had a very busy meeting in September! We wasted no time and jumped off by showcasing our travelling quilt starting blocks. There are 11 members participating in this exercise, and these are the initial blocks:
It will be exciting to see what these blocks become when the quilt tops get back to their original stitcher!
This meeting was extra special because it was the day of our mini swap! This was a secret swap, so all of us were surprised with lovely mini’s! The expressions in these photos are priceless!
So much talent being shared among the SMQG! What beautiful mini’s!!
The Sunday tutorial was on using the Quick Curve Ruler. I provided a brief demo on how to use the ruler (although I’ve been told that I cut backwards!) and talked about how to play with the curved pieces for different effects.
The challenge due for this meeting was to incorporate value into a project. Challenge accepted and completed!
And last but not least, show and tell! I was so busy ooh’ing and aaah’ing over the pieces shown that I forgot to snap photos of them all! But I did manage to catch a few for your enjoyment!
Our next informal meeting is Wednesday October 8th at 7 pm. Members should have received an email with the address included. Please email us if you did not receive one. Join us on Sunday October 26th at 2:00 for the next formal meeting, downstairs in Periwinkle Quilting’s studio. We will be passing on our travelling quilts that day, so please remember your project! The challenge due for this meeting is to find inspiration in an unlikely source and make anything! Preferably quilted ;). And as always, please bring your projects for show and tell. We do love to be inspired by you and to admire your work!
See you at the next meeting!
That meeting went so fast and there was so much happening that I could hardly remember everything in the extended “feast for the eyes”. Thanks for posting photos of everything so I can admire and oooo and ahhhh at length!
