November Meeting Review

We held a regular meeting at Sobeys Stonebridge community room at 2 pm on November 24th. It was wonderful to have three guests join us on Grey Cup Sunday!

Bev brought the charity quilt to show progress. Many thanks to Bev for designing and coordinating this, and to guild members for being brave and contributing improv letters. We will finish assembling it at our sew day on Sunday, December 8th. Check out the progress below.

We shared different quilting retreats for our icebreaker. It was neat to hear examples of these being done at home with friends and family, with a bit of creative furniture moving. Next we discussed our personal favourite gadgets including “That Purple Thang”, thimbles, clips, rulers, rotary cutters, and stitch rippers. A journal was recommended to keep track of projects, and maybe spending. We were on the fence about the spending thing as then our conscience may take over. That stash of fabric is always so nice.

Barb showed us her latest project. Her stitching was beautiful and it was so nice that she brought in a couple of calendars which gave her inspiration. Check out the front and back below.

Other projects were shared with the group. Be sure to attend future meetings to see all the great projects from our guild members!

Our next gathering is at the sew day at Stonebridge Home Inn & Suites on December 8th. Please refer to our November 2019 meeting post for details of how to RSVP, and for the size of the mug rug if you want to participate in the exchange. We hope to see many of you there! For non-members, the cost is $10. Don’t forget to bring something to share for the potluck at noon.
