Membership renewal will go until February 28, 2020, to ensure no interruption of your online access to the MQG website.  Don’t forget to check on the many patterns, webinars, and articles available for members. The yearly membership of $60 provides you with four sew days, monthly educational meetings (except for the summer) for you to grow and share, online access to the MQG website, deals and discounts, swaps, QuiltCon access, and access to special events. Feel free to bring cheques or cash to the upcoming meetings in January or February or contact Bev to make arrangements for payment (bev.murray.drew@gmail.com). If renewal is not received by the deadline, your access online will be removed.

Fall Workshop

We are super excited to bring Libs Elliott to Saskatoon for a trunk show on September 18, 2020, and workshop on September 19, 2020! She is a Canadian modern quilter who has completed numerous commissioned quilts, patterns using computer-generated randomness and is a fabric designer. Members will have first access and discounted pricing to the trunk show and workshop. We are still working on the details and will need your input on the workshop choice – so stay tuned.

Wanted – Communications Volunteer

We are looking for someone to help out with website updates, email communications, and social media updates. If you are interested in learning about these we can teach you so you are set up for success. Many hands make for light work. Please contact the guild (saskatoonmqg@gmail.com) or reach out to Donna or Charlene if you have questions about this opportunity to grow and contribute.

Charity Quilt

Bev revealed the plans for the charity quilt at the last meeting and we even received a few donations to go to batting and thread. We need to follow the guidelines for the charity quilt challenge. This includes using white, blacks, and greys in text or low volume fabrics that coordinate with the colour palette. The letters are improv – I know it’s scary, but you can do it! This is how we grow!

Each letter can be upper or lower case. Each letter should be no more than 5.5″ tall (unfinished; 5″ when finished; use 1/4″ seam allowance) and can be as wide as needed. The letter should be black and the background should be white’s or light greys. The medium grey will be used for the border.

Below are examples of the letters, the colour palette, and the design of the quilt. If you would like to pick up swatches of the fabrics to match your fabric stache or sign up to do some letters before the next meeting, contact Bev (bev.murray.drew@gmail.com). If possible, bring your completed blocks to the next meeting at Sobey’s (Stonebridge) on November 24, 2019 at 2 p.m.
