October 2019 Meeting

The next meeting is October 27th.

We have an exciting October planned, which includes both a Sew Day and Regular Meeting at Home Inn and Suites (253 Willis Crescent). Come and Go from 9 am to 8 pm (free for members; $10 for guests) with a Lunch Break at 12 pm and Meeting from 2 to 4 pm.

Please RSVP for the sew day to Amy (amyspiers@yahoo.com) and let her know if you are able to bring an iron, ironing board, or cutting mat to share.

Guests that are only able to attend the meeting and trunk show are asked to RSVP to saskatoonmqg@gmail.com and should arrive by 2 p.m. Seating will be limited. Guests can attend two meetings for free to see what the guild has to offer.

Trunk Show

We are very pleased to have Hanna Farquharson, a modern quilter and independent modern quilt guild member, from Saltcoats, SK, as a special guest at our meeting. She will share a trunk show of her modern quilts. As stated on her website, Hanna is influenced by nature, Saskatchewan, Japan, and by the Japanese “wabi-sabi” which means finding beauty in imperfection. Her quilts have been on exhibit at QuiltCon, Quilt Festival, Quilt Canada and the Godfrey Dean Art Gallery in Yorkton. We have adored her quilts on social media (@h_faquharson_studio) and are excited to see these works of art in person! We are welcoming guests that RSVP.

Join us and see what the Saskatoon Modern Quilt Guild is all about!

Charity Quilt

Bev has gracious stepped up to coordinate a charity quilt. The theme is text with the colours of white, grey, and black (details in the link above). We will focus our message on mental health. Details will be revealed at the sew day and meeting for this group project. There will be an opportunity to work on blocks and for you to contribute fabric from your stash (white, grey, and black; solids or low volume). More details to come!
